Summer Camp

This season marks the 41st year the equestrian farm is offering the Summer Horsemanship Program, a summer camp for area youngsters. Starbuck Equestrian & Stepping Stone Farm are located on one of the oldest and most scenic country estates in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

The children’s day will consist of approximately one hour of formal horseback riding lessons, followed by ground instruction in the riding ring. Following the ring instruction, the children will have either stable management or arts and crafts. Stable management focuses on horse care and maintenance, grooming, and horse anatomy. The camp will utilize both outdoor riding rings for the summer of 2020. Riders will head indoors and use the two indoor rings during inclement weather. The day will end with a short swim in the estate’s pool. At the conclusion of the two weeks camp a show for the parents to come and see.

The beginner classes have an instructor to student ratio of one to four. The advanced beginner and intermediate rider classes have an instructor to student ratio of one to five. Each class has their own riding ring.

Camp hours are 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with lunch and a short swim at the recreation area from 12-1 daily. Starbuck Equestrian will be offering four, two-week long sessions. Starting dates are: June 29th, July 13th, July 27th and August 10th for the two-week camps. Cost of the camp is $895 per two-week session with a $500 non-refundable deposit to reserve a spot in the desired session. The balance of $350 is due the first day of camp. If available, the one week session is $550. Children must be ages 6 and over.
